Como, Italy 11/22/2010, from the collaboration between Lowell Observatory, the largest private, non-profit astronomical research institution in the United States, and Discovery Communications Inc. is accomplished the $44 Million Discovery Channel Research Telescope designed with progeCAD.

The DCT is a 14 ft research class telescope situated at an elevation of 7,800 feet atop an ancient cinder cone approximately 40 miles southeast of Flagstaff, Arizona at a site called Happy Jack. It will significantly advance Lowell’s capabilities in astronomical research and just important, the partnership with Discovery Communications, whose current operations include 29 global networks in over 180 countries, will bring the fascinating world of astronomical science and education to more than 1.6 billion people every day.
Construction of the DCT began in 2005 with completion and early science operations expected in 2012.
At this phase of the project, DCT engineers, technicians, and contractors are engaged in detailed design work that demands the use of powerful and reliable CAD software tools.
After evaluating various CAD software options with respect to performance, price, custom features, and technical support, progeCAD 2010 Professional was judged  the best choice.
DCT engineering and technical staff confirms that progeCAD Professional delivers highly reliable and robust performance thus improving the ease and speed of design work.
progeCAD United States, an Authorized Distributor of progeSOFT products, has been working with the observatory since 2005 to deliver continual upgrades ensuring the Discovery Channel Telescope designers had the most current progeCAD technology.
Finally, progeSOFT’s proven commitment to supporting educational institutions such as Lowell Observatory yields additional value and confidence in our choice of progeCAD.
Lowell Observatory expects to continue using progeCAD Professional to support long term operations of the Discovery Channel Telescope. New instrumentation, system modifications, and electro-mechanical improvements are all likely to be developed in part via progeSOFT product solutions.

“We are greatly pleased that such a prestigious institution like Lowell Observatory chose our  software and we are proud to have made our contribution to realization of  this  important project, the Discovery Channel Telescope” announced Damiano Croci, progeCAD sales director “We express our particular appreciation to progeCAD US for support and assistance offered to the Lowell observatory staff in making their choice of technologies to implement.”

progeCAD is a Professional, native DWG 2D/3D CAD, supplied with Applications, Libraries and Services at a remarkably low cost.  progeCAD enterprise, executive and founding member of the IntelliCAD® Technology Consortium has been developing CAD software for over 23 years.

Discovery Communications (Nasdaq: DISCA, DISCB, DISCK) is the world’s number one nonfiction media company reaching more than 1.5 billion cumulative subscribers in over 180 countries.

Lowell Observatory, founded in 1894, is one of the oldest observatories in the United States. It hosts 70,000 visitors per year and operates several important astronomical researches. Lowell Observatory’s astronomers conduct research on a wide range of solar system and astrophysical topics. In addition they design and build custom instrumentation for use on Lowell’s telescopes, such as Discovery Channel Telescope in partnership with Discovery Communications Inc.

progeCAD 2010 Professional French Version Allows for Current DWG Compatibility and No Learning Curve for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT Users

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Como, CO, Italy 25 October 2010 – progeCAD announce the release of progeCAD 2010 Professional DWG CAD software French version. progeCAD 2010 Professional FRA offers direct read/write compatibility with DWG 2010 drawings, faster operation, and an even more“AutoCAD Like” and usability thanks the localized interface in French language.

Architects, engineers, designers and drafters using AutoCAD, Auto CAD LT, or IntelliCAD will be impressed with progeCAD 2010’s overall unique performance for price combination. Unlike most AutoCAD compatible CAD programs, progeCAD 2010 Professional goes far beyond mere DWG file compatibility with dozens of extra features like gradient hatch patterns controlled with a new “AutoCAD Like” hatch dialog, a new complete properties bar, and DWG drawing save time improvement of up to 10 times the previous speeds. Nevertheless, progeCAD’s most inviting feature continues to be its incredibly low price compared to AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT.

More and more engineering and architectural drawings are being saved, archived and distributed on the Adobe PDF format due to its small size, portable secure nature, and free tools available to display with great accuracy the files produced. In recent years the format has been improved with the addition of support for layers within the files produced. ProgeCAD has in the past been able to not only print to PDF, but has the unique ability to import PDF files and convert those files to drawings fully editable from within progeCAD Professional. progeCAD 2010 has improved support for the more recent enhancements of Adobe PDF providing the ability to import, convert, and print to the multilayer PDF format. A designer can receive a PDF from a collaborating partner on a project and is able to import the drawing to progeCAD for editing and additions.

progeCAD 2009 sports powerful interface updates like right-mouse click context menus, improved speed and reliability. AutoCAD LT users should be especially interested in true ACIS 3D modeling, AutoLISP, VBA, and SDS (C++) program extensions – features not supported by AutoCAD LT. The release of progeCAD 2010 Professional will bring the addition of the ability to profile solid models allowing you to display 2d representations of your 3d models.

The Network version of progeCAD 2010 Professional features a new network license manager (NLM) which allows users to check out their licenses and take them with them keeping the software available to them until they return and release the license back to the NLM. This allows users to travel to and from work sites without losing the function of their network licenses while on the trip.
Corporate Licenses allow unlimited software installation under the company name: the definitive solution for medium/large size companies now able to cover all users with a very small fraction of the cost required with other CAD solutions.

progeCAD’s compatibility with DWG 2011 and earlier drawings, easy-to-use, no learning curve, “AutoCAD Like” user interface, and wealth of features make progeCAD 2010 Professional a truly “professional” platform that is still unbelievably retail price. The release of progeCAD 2010 Professional comes at a time when just such an affordable, yet robust AutoCAD-compatible drawing program is really needed.
